Have a Great Day Out at One of These San Francisco Wineries

San Francisco wineriesWhether you’re hosting out-of-town guests, planning a date night, or entertaining a client, wineries are a great spot for a variety of activities. And San Francisco has no shortage of them. Here are 5 great wineries to consider pairing with San Francisco car service.

The Winery SF

Many visitors to this Treasure Island note its unusual décor, such as the many wine barrels lining the space interior. Besides an interesting interior, the facility also boasts 20,000 square feet of space, which allows visitors get a glimpse into the world of wine making.  A common site for weddings, the Winery SF has plenty to offer, such as unique boutique and handcrafted wines. Visitors can check it out after hunting for gently used treasures from the nearby flea market.

Fat Grape Winery

Breaking with the usual tradition of formal packaging, the labels on many of the wines here sport a smiling and cheerful cartoon grape. It’s an image that reflects owner Patrick Bowen’s personality well; locals often praise his warmth and openness toward his guests. But it isn’t just the service that makes this winery stand out. Bowen’s wines have won several awards in various competitions, and wine tastings are free. Purchase one of his wines, and you’ll even get treated to a free barrel tasting, too.

Wattle Creek Winery Tasting Room

The actual Wattle Creek Winery is in Cloverdale, and it’s open to the public by appointment only. But since its tasting room is located right in Ghirardelli Square, there seems to be very little reason to make the trek to the flagship location. The tasting room is open all week, and visitors can drop by to sample wines only available at that location. Cabernets, sauvignon blancs, and pinot noirs made from grapes grown in Sonoma County are all available. On top of that, the stellar and helpful service will make this place one of your favorite spots in the city.

Bluxome Street Winery

Located in the SoMa area, Bluxome Street Winery is an homage to the beginnings of winemaking in America, which reportedly started in San Francisco. Some 120 wine retailers called the area home operated in the area before an earthquake in 1906 closed them down. Like the Winery SF, touting itself on its website as “the site of mergers, union and soirees,” the Bluxome Street Winery is also a popular spot for large events and parties. Wine fans often praise Bluxome’s chardonnay for not being too overbearing on the oak. On the last Saturday of each month, visitors can also browse a farmer’s market selling fresh vegetables and other tasty fare.

Winery Collective

This place is a great spot to bring your out-of-town guests. Why? First, it’s located near Fisherman’s Wharf, which is always a favorite for San Francisco visitors. Second, the Winery Collective focuses on boutique wines, and you’ll find special wines from all over the state, so your guests can get a true taste of California here. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the business even offers kids’ tastings of red, rose, and white juices for children so that kids don’t get left out of all the fun. Wine tastings start at $15.
