Tips For Successful & Less Stressful Corporate Events 6 Pitfalls to Avoid When Planning a Corporate Event

One of the most stressful things one can do in life is plan a corporate event. There is so much to take into consideration such as staying tightly within the budget. Below are some of the pitfalls organizers make when planning a corporate event.

1. Event Scheduling

It is important to schedule the corporate event at a time that is suitable for the majority of the people attending. It is important to avoid religious holidays or during August, a popular vacation time for people with families.

2. Guest Transportation

Many corporate events are followed by a party, very often held in a completely different location. Some guests will have no way to get across town to the party, therefore it is essential to rely on professional group transportation, as this will prevent guests getting lost and failing to turn up.

3. Entertainment

Good entertainment is vital to a successful corporate event. If the entertainment is poor, that is all people will remember when they leave. Try to find an entertainment company that specialize in corporate events. It might be an idea to ask for references before making a decision to hire a company, DJ or band.

4. Keynote Speaker

Most corporate events have a keynote speaker from outside the organization. If so, it is important to take the keynote speaker's accommodation into account when organizing the event. Remember the keynote speaker may also need transportation, to ensure he or she arriving on time for the event. The late arrival of a keynote speaker can ruin the entire corporate event.

5. Themes

Corporate event themes are fun. Be careful not to make them too trite as people won’t show up. Themes should have a degree of class. Themes are good for ice breaking and making sure people are enjoying themselves and having fun.

6. Logistics and Things

Planning a corporate event is like a military operation. If the dinner or party is across town, you’ll want to make absolutely sure you can get the guests there on time before the first course.

Otherwise, you run the risk of disappointing guests, wasting food, turning away entertainment and wasting a great deal on money. Conversely, if you get the guests to the dinner location too early, you run the risk of people getting irritable and bored, and some may leave.

Great Morale Booster

Corporate events are very good for company, employee and client bonding. It can be a great boost to morale for all who attend the event. Good planning will prevent a great deal of potential problems from occurring. There will be a lot to plan and it is important to plan early to ensure there is time to correct anything that has been overlooked before the big day.
