Prom Season is in full swing and your teens are completely focused on their dresses, shoes, hair and matching cummerbunds. This evening of formal attire, dancing and a night out with friends in a special car is something they have looked forward to for a long time.
Making sure that your young people are delivered to their destination on time and safe should be the priority of the limousine company that you choose for the evening.
Here are a few things to consider when booking the ride of their lives on prom night:
DOES THE LIMOUSINE COMPANY HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION?
Riding in a limousine to and from the prom has been a delightful standard for many kids for many decades. The pure luxury and added glamour of riding with a group of friend in the back of a long black limo (or something even a little flashier) is as much a part of the experience as taking pictures to remember the evening.
Finding a trustworthy company with qualified chauffeurs who can handle the road and a car full of rowdy kids is important to the mom’s and dads who are releasing their teenagers to their night of revelry.
When selecting your limousine company make sure they have:
- Professional and trained chauffeurs with significant experience in driving and navigating the city where you live?
- Adequate insurance on all of their vehicles and proper licensing

If you’re entrusting your child’s prom transportation to anyone, you want to make sure that they are accountable to a larger network of businesses.
DO YOU HAVE EVERYONE’S PHONE NUMBER?
You heard your daughter’s groan when you asked her to produce a list of the numbers of all the kids who were going to be riding with her in the limo on prom night. She also got down right annoyed when you asked for the numbers of their parents.
Your own peace of mind depends on knowing that you can contact your child, or get in contact with their parents at any time during the evening is a big deal. As a parent, you can never eliminate the “what-if’s”.
You will also want to keep the number of the car service on hand, as well as the prom venue, the restaurant where they might be eating dinner, and any other stops they might be making.
The excuse that someone’s cell phone battery died, or they had their phone on vibrate will give you a solid back-up plan for getting in touch, if the need should come up.
A Note: Don't hound your teen throughout their special and long awaited night. Just knowing that you can contact them any time is a huge stress reliever and a great way to increase your child’s level of safety.

Some teens look forward to the after-prom festivities more than they do the prom itself. It's easy to see why.
They a have been in their formal attire all evening, walking around in stiff shoes or high heels. They are ready to put on something more casual and keep the party going with their friends.
Your teen’s activities after the prom can get a little out of hand if you don’t set some boundaries and lay some ground rules before the big night arrives. Whether they’re going to a friend’s house or a school-sponsored event, knowing your child’s whereabouts at each stage of the night is important to you. Keeping them safe while they let loose a little at the end of another touch school year will keep you sane.
Prom doesn’t have to be a manic, stress-filled experience.
