4th of July Fun in San Francisco

San Francisco Car ServiceThe time has come to celebrate our country’s independence with festivities and fireworks! The city of San Francisco is poised to put on a full day of activities, concerts, parades, and fireworks to entertain even the tiniest of revelers. Make it a day to remember by booking a limo into the city. Your kids will feel like true VIPs and the added bonus is that you won’t have to worry about finding a parking spot or fighting all the traffic into and out of the city.

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate in true independent spirit, head into the Bay Area for some of the best events the city has to offer.

Concerts to Watch

You definitely want to head into the city long before the fireworks begin to watch some of the concerts going on around the Bay Area. At the July 4th Celebration at the Pier, you’ll be able to see a show put on by “Mobility”, which is a subdivision of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. The group will put on a set including some new and old rock, blues, and jazz favorites. If 80s music is your thing, stick around for “Tainted Love” and watch them put on a show to remember while playing all of your favorite tunes from the craziest and most colorful decade.

If you’re on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County, you and the family can stop in to the Marin County Fair and prepare to be entertained by two incredibly diverse performances. If you prefer your music with a Latino flair, “La Santa Cecilia” is putting on a show at 3pm. You’ll hear the Mexican classic “Como Dios Manda” as well as their take on The Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields”. For something completely different, stick around until 6pm for a mobile performance by the March Fourth Marching Band as they make their way around the fairgrounds playing an eclectic mix of American funk, rock, and jazz.

Alameda 4th of July Parade

Starting at 10am, the Alameda 4th of July Parade is so beloved that it was voted the “Best Hometown Celebration” in 2007 and the “Best Hometown Parade in 2008 by the East Bay Express. This amazing display of hometown spirit and country pride is also considered to be the longest Independence Day Parade in the United States as it meanders over 3.3 miles through town. You and the kids will be in awe of the size of this parade as you watch dancers, floats, marching bands, horses, and custom cars join in on the fun.

Fireworks

What Independence Day celebration would be complete without a spectacular display of fireworks? Given the fact that the Bay Area encompasses such a large area, there isn’t just one fireworks show to see.

Starting at approximately 9:30, the city of San Francisco will set off their fireworks at the end of the Municipal Pier as well as off of barges in the bay north of Pier 39. There are several places to watch on land, so head over to Coit Tower, Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, the Cannery and Aquatic Park. For a truly one-of-a-kind experience, you can always head out on the water to see the amazing sight of the fireworks and their reflection on the water below.

For the first time in history, Angel Island will be allowing visitors on the island for 4th of July Fireworks festivities. You’ll need to plan ahead if you want to check out this venue’s fireworks show as you’ll have to buy special arrangement evening ferry tickets in advance. They are planning on putting a 20 minute fireworks display, so be sure to bring your own seating or blankets and get their early to make sure you get a good seat.

Just be sure to enjoy the festivities safely by letting a limousine or car service chauffer you around to the concerts, parades, and fireworks shows. Not only will you avoid the stress of dealing with traffic or parking as mentioned earlier, you’ll also be able to enjoy a drink or two. Make this Independence Day one to remember by trying to make it to all the best events around the Bay Area.
