4 Ways to Work Out While on the Go

Work Out on Business TripsMaintaining a steady work out routine on top of your busy personal and professional life is hard enough when you are at home. When you add travel to the work, finding time to work out can be even more difficult. While work can oftentimes make travel unavoidable, you should never let your professional commitments get in the way of your personal health and wellbeing. Finding time in your schedule to work out should be a priority, even when you are on the road. With the right knowledge and motivation, you will find that working out while traveling is actually easier than you ever believed.

Use the Hotel Gym

For those who frequent local gyms and fitness centers for their daily work out, travel can seriously disrupt your routine. Not having access to your preferred gym might make it more difficult to work out. However, you must keep in mind that many hotels have their very own work out rooms. Next time you make hotels arrangements, you may want to enquire as to whether or not you will have access to hotel owned exercise equipment. You may not be able to visit your specific location or use the same exact equipment, but having a fitness room nearby should prevent you from upsetting your routine too severely.

Swim Some Laps

Hotels that do not have a fitness room usually do still have indoor or outdoor pools. While swimming may not be a part of your normal routine, it is actually one of the most beneficial exercises one can do. Not only does swimming build both muscle strength and cardio, but the water is easy and cushioning on your joints, making it less of a strain on your body. Remember to pack a bathing suit and swim a few laps during your hotel stay. Your time in the water will give you a beneficial workout while also helping you to relax.

Walk Around the City

Traveling to a new city can often be stress inducing, but it can also be a wonderful opportunity to see things you have never seen before, especially if your company is footing the bill. If you are the kind of person who likes to take walks around your neighborhood at night for your primary workout routine, you can still have a nightly stroll while you are traveling. Take a walk around the streets of the city in which you are staying. You can see the sights, take pictures, and turn your business trip into a pleasure trip all while wasting away the calories.

Work Out in Your Hotel Room

Even if you are going to be confined to your hotel room for most of your stay, you can still find a way to get the exercise that you need. Most hotel rooms come equipped with televisions and some even have DVD players. You can bring an exercise video from home and set up your own workout space in your hotel room. If your hotel television is not compatible with your preferred video, you can always watch on your computer or simply look up YouTube clips. The great thing about working out in your hotel room is that as soon as you’re finished, you can flip the TV channel and put your feet up after the end of a long day.

There is no reason why your busy travel schedule should get in the way of your health and fitness. Even the most seasoned of travelers can keep up a solid workout routine by taking advantage of hotel amenities and venturing outside the hotel for long walks or jogs. Before you book your next trip, make sure that you will be staying at a fitness friendly hotel.
