More Than Just Music!

Outside Lands Festival Ultimate Guide

Did you know there is a specific weekend event coming up in August this year that you simply must mark on your calendars to attend? Honestly, there really isn’t any reason why you and everyone you know shouldn’t attend. If you love music, you should go. If you love comedy, you should go. If you love art, you should go. If you love food, beer, and wine, you should definitely go!

The Outside Lands Music Festival is more than what its name infers. Sure, there are going to be some pretty impressive musical acts that will hit the stage, but it’s really so much more than that!

If you haven’t heard of the Outside Lands Music Festival up til now, we’ve put together (almost) everything you could possibly need to know here in one place.

Where/When/How

The three major questions that everyone attending will need to know the answers to are “Where is it at?”, “When is the festival?”, and “How do I get there?” No worries, as we have answered them here for you.

Where - Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA

When – August 7th – 9th

How – This is actually a very good question since parking is a precious commodity in the area. In fact, parking within the park itself is extremely limited (practically non-existent) and the surrounding neighborhoods don’t offer many options either. This is why we recommend using a Bay Area car service for the festival. You won’t have to worry about parking at all.

Instead of leaving your car unattended several blocks away for an extended period of time, you can be dropped off and picked up right at the entrance. This will save you time and ensure you don’t miss any of your favorite performances.

Also, since this event will also be a celebration of fantastic food and adult beverages as well as a music/comedy/arts festival, you and your friends will make it home safe and sound without driving impaired once the fun is over.

Notable Musical Acts

Every day of this incredible three day festival is absolutely brimming with phenomenal talent.

On Friday, the big names on the ticket include Mumford & Sons and Wilco with appearances by the likes of D’Angelo and the Vanguard, Chet Faker, and George Ezra.

Saturday, the attendees will be treated to performances by The Black Keys, Kendrick Lamar, and even the iconic Billy Idol.

The last day of the festival will bring the incomparable Elton John as well as the insanely talented Sam Smith. It would be virtually impossible to list every single musical act set to perform, so just take our word for it and make sure you’re there to see them all!

Laugh Riot

If you’re not entertained by the ridiculously awesome musical guests on the schedule, maybe you’re better suited to the comedy acts in the lineup. From standup comedians to improve acts, there is sure to be something for everyone during this three day festival of awesome.

Most notable of which would be three members of the Daily Show news team: Al Madrigal, Hasan Minhaj, and Jordan Keppler as well as the Upright Citizens Brigade, Comedy Bang! Bang! With Scott Aukerman and Special Guests, and The Groundlings: The Black Version with Jordan Black, Daniele Gaither, Phil Lamarr, Karen Murayama, Gary Anthony Williams, and Nyima Funk.

Again, even with those big names there are still plenty of comedy acts we aren’t able to fit into this post.

Art Experiences

Much isn’t known at the moment about the art installations and exhibits that will be going on at this year’s festival. However, one only has to look at the little bit of information given to realize that it’s certainly not something to be missed.

From funky and quirky to creepy and weird, the Outsider Art and Dr. Flotsam’s hell Brew Revue from last year’s festival should inspire your artistic side as well as the live painting that begs the spectator to become a participant.

Dive into the artistic cultural atmosphere this year and go away with a newfound appreciation for the marriage of art and entertainment.

Food/Wine/Beer

Ok, be honest. Is this the section you’ve really been waiting for? Normally at music festivals the best food you could hope for would be a hotdog that’s been sitting out all day and a lukewarm beer. At the Outside Lands Music Festival, you can rest assured you will be treated to the exact opposite.

The festival planners have partnered with some of the best restaurants and food trucks in the Bay Area to guarantee your culinary satisfaction. Grab some peanut tofu nachos from Azalina’s or some gourmet s’mores from Charles Chocolates. Bacon Bacon will be on hand with some to-die-for BBQ bacon burritos while Kara’s Cupcakes will have the sweets you need after your meal.

To make sure your thirst is quenched in the best possible way, you’ll have more than thirty different wineries to choose a glass of vino from and more than thirty different craft breweries to grab a cold beer. The food, wine, and beer lineup alone are enough to bring any foodie and adult beverage snob out for this fantastical and fun three day music festival.

We’ve only skimmed the surface of this incredible event that should bring the best people in the Bay Area out to enjoy together this August. As if you should need an excuse to get out and enjoy our beautiful city by the bay, this festival just adds a little extra cherry on top.

Get your friends together, reserve a car service for the weekend, and head down to Golden Gate Park for every possible form of entertainment you could possibly want in one place!
