Booking Corporate Event Entertainment That Rocks
Planning a corporate event can be one of the most stressful tasks there is, with a large amount of items that need to be addressed, from getting people to and from the event, booking the right venue and finding the right entertainment. A great corporate event is something that will be remembered for a long time to come, and can dramatically boost morale and your career chances.
Entertainment is one of the key aspects of a great event, and making sure your guests are entertained and not bored or offended can be a very fine line to tread. Below are some tips for booking the right entertainment for your event.
Know Your Audience
Knowing and understanding your audience is key to ensuring you hire the right entertainment. If the event is formal, and most of the people are in their 50s, a punk rock band won't go down very well. Find out in advance who will be attending the event to make sure that the entertainment will be relevant to their interests. Aspects to take note of include the age of the guests, where they work and what sort of entertainment they'd enjoy.
If you decide that the event needs a guest speaker, make sure you find one that is again relevant to the interests of the guest, and also make sure that the speaker isn't boring. Nothing kills an event faster than a boring speaker, especially one who is talking about something the guests don't care about and aren't interested in.
Also take a note of the atmosphere you want to generate in the event. Do you want to have a formal, classy and sedate event, or one that is raucous, fun and memorable? Entertainment can drastically change the mood of an event, and selecting the right entertainment is crucial.
Do Something Different
When considering entertainment options for an event, many organizers turn to music and guest speakers and don't consider any alternatives. While this is the safe option, unless you get the best speaker and best band, the event won't be memorable due to entertainment. Consider alternative entertainment options to liven up an event and make it something that won't be forgotten soon.
The simplest alternative to local bands is music with a twist. Instead of getting a band that plays Top 40 hits, get an acapella group that does the same thing, or a barbershop quartet that entertains guests at their table. Be aware that some people don't particularly like being serenaded while they eat, so make sure that any entertainment you organize understands how to be entertain without being intrusive.
Keep Things Simple
While it's tempting to go overboard with entertainment, be aware that most guests at a corporate event have just come in from a long day's work, and most likely are tired and have a lot of work stress on their minds. This means that attention spans and tempers are likely to flare if the entertainment proves to be intrusive or too over the top. Having pyrotechnics and dancers can sound like fun on paper, but will result in people getting irritated and annoyed.
Allow space for conversations and relaxation as well as entertainment. It's a fine line to tread between boring your guests and grating on their nerves, and you should be aware of this when selecting the type of entertainment you want at your event.
The entertainment at an event can mean the difference between success and failure. Make sure you find a balance between too boring and too entertaining in order to make the event a success.
