How to Quickly & Easily Streamline Your Day
Doing the same thing, day in and day out, can get tedious. It can make a job you love turn into a job you hate. If you work in an office, it’s almost guaranteed that you will spend a large amount of your time there doing the same thing over and over, every single day. While there may not be any way around that, there are ways that you can streamline those everyday menial office tasks.
If you’re looking for a way to make your day go by faster and increase your productivity at the same time, just keep reading. We’ve put together all the information you need to make it through the day.
Smaller Projects First
Just like they say you should pay off your smaller debts first, you should mark off the smaller tasks at the start of your day. When you’re able to speed through the smaller tasks, you’ll be motivated by the visual dent you make in the work you have to do. Once you’ve made it through your smaller projects, you’re able to put more focus on the bigger tasks when they come your way.
Follow a Schedule
When you make it into the office each day, look over what absolutely needs to be done first. That’s the first thing you put on your schedule. You’ll need to figure out a way to prioritize everything you do. Once you’ve put them in order of importance, apply them to your schedule and make sure to check them off as you finish each one. When you have something like a set schedule of tasks to follow, you’ll be more likely to speed through the day without getting distracted.
Phase Out Paper
Paper is soon to be a thing of the past. If you’re able to get your job done without printing off a ridiculous amount of documents, do so. When you phase out paper, you save a lot of time that would have usually been spent filing. You don’t have to worry about storing documents and finding them later when you need them. When they’re stored electronically, you can find them quickly and easily with the click of a button.
Minimize Meetings
If you’re able to convey what you need to be done by your colleagues or the people that work under you in an email, do so. Don’t take time out of everyone’s day for meetings unless they are absolutely necessary. It’s harder to get focused back on the job at hand when they come out of a long and boring meeting. While 60% of executives think the time they spend in meetings is wasted, a whopping 74% feel they are ineffective.
Take a Business Lunch
In the event that you absolutely must have a meeting, whether with a superior or with a potential client, take it outside the office. Even though you’ll technically be working, that half hour to hour lunch away from the office will make a world of difference with your frame of mind. Even the slightest amount of fresh air and sunshine on your face during a busy work day has the ability to invigorate almost anyone. It’s also an excellent way to have a one on one talk with someone while enjoying some fantastic food.
Work doesn’t have to become something you dread going to every day. If you use these tips to help streamline your day, you’ll be able to come into work as happy as you leave work each day. Since you’re going to spend as much time at the office as you do at home, why not make the most of it?
